Sarah Heilshorn
Stanford University |
The Heilshorn group at Stanford designs materials that mimics the nano- and micro-scale order found in nature for applications in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and energy. Recent work in the Heilshorn group have focused on engineering elastin-like biomaterials for ex vivo and in vivo studies for regenerative medicine applications, developing customizable biomimetic protein scaffolds that mimic native stem cell niche to provide direct control over in vitro stem cell cultures, and utilizing microfluidic devices to study cell dynamics within a variety of scaffolds and biochemical gradients.
